In this Washington Post article, Gareth Ross, Head of Enterprise Technology & Experience at MassMutual, writes how lack of access to basic financial systems and tools enables countless low-income communities stay low income.
To address the problem, Ross points out that corporations can help. He adds that "it might mean making concerted efforts to expand services, financial and otherwise, to underserved places or working with community leaders and activists to pilot programs that address longstanding problems."
MassMutual, through its program, the Live Mutual Project, has identified community resources to create easy-to-navigate solutions.
Ross also adds that digital innovations can help address the problem, too.
According to Ross, MassMutual is currently in the early stages of this program in Springfield, MA and Memphis, TN.
