As part of LISC's stories, Thomas Wyatt, a researcher, urban planner and 2019 Rubinger Fellow from Flint, Michigan, discusses in a Q & A session on what it takes to forge cross-sector partnerships that can achieve authentic community change.

Wyatt defines cross-sector partnership as something that should involve every component that makes a specific community.

He also explains how a solid ongoing partnership like University Avenue Corridor Coalition (UACC) combats problems, like having residents feeling cynical about community development initiatives.

Plus, Wyatt shares how he inspires people to come out for a cross-sector meeting or activity, his insights on how to get a partnership going in a neighborhood with less capacity to start with, how much resident involvement is enough, and if the Rubinger Fellowship has enhanced his work.
