A reception held April 2016 at the First Methodist in Conway, Arkansas was lead by Habitat for Humanity to recognize long term recovery efforts and the work of community partners following a deadly tornado in 2014.
On April 27th 2014 the EF4 tornado swept through Mayflower and other Faulkner County communities. Eleven people lost their lives and hundreds of homes and businesses were destroyed.
Habitat employees and volunteers detailed throughout the reception the good work done by the local communities over the two year period to rebuild the community. Habitat along with Samaritans Purse, the Salvation Army, Christian Aid ministries and volunteers from near and far were able to complete many new homes as well as remodel and repair many others. All of the work done was paid for by contributions which totaled over a million dollars.
The Log Cabin Democrat and many community partners were recognized during the event.
