Lauren Stocker and other stalwart skateboarders helped secure a $5,000 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation in the name of the park's nonprofit, Bordertown Skatepark Inc. in the hope to eventually put those funds toward the construction skate park under the Macarthur Maze.
The Bordertown group has been talking with Caltrans officials and representatives from the cities of Emeryville and Oakland about rebuilding a park on the Caltrans-controlled property.
