Coastal South Carolina Gets $685k to Support Black Communities and Build Resilience

Officials from the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina stated that they have provided $685,000 to 37 non-profit organizations led and/or served by blacks in the three-county area to support innovation, creativity and fostering increased resilience is in the black community.

Facebook chose the Coastal Community Foundation to provide this opportunity because it intends to promote racial equality in coastal South Carolina through scholarships, grants, advocacy and internal practices, officials said.

According to the foundation, the $1 million Facebook grant also supports four specific initiatives designed to provide more opportunities for black communities and their leaders:



Fashion entrepreneur Amy Yeung moved her LA-based online apparel business Orenda Tribe to live on the Navajo reservation in New Mexico, among the indigenous sewers, jewelry makers, and artisans who are her suppliers.
