The Adirondack Mountain Club will get $303,960 to make its former ski resort more accessible to the public, and the town of Fayette will get $1 million to install more than 11 miles of sewer mains.
Those are two of 12 economic and community development projects in New York's Northern Border Region that were awarded $5.8 million in federal grant money Tuesday, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports.
The projects were chosen "through a competitive process for their potential economic impact, the regional need for the project, the level of coordination with existing plans and regional activities, and their consistency with the priorities of the Northern Border Regional Commission," says Gov.
Kathy Hochul.
The grants will be used to replace an existing clay pipe sewer in Schroon, replace sewer lines and drinking water distribution pipes at Paul Smith's College in Saranac Lake, rehabilitate the industrial track and bridge over the Oswegatchie River in Gouverneur, and train 50 individuals to become welders.
