The Fiermontina resort in southern Italy is located in a protected national park, but it's not your run-of-the-mill resort: Instead, guests at La Fiermontina Ocean get to stay in a private beach house on the edge of the park, near the town of Lecce, the Telegraph reports.
"That's one way that staying in the resort can benefit the lives of others," says Yasmina Filali, who founded the nonprofit Orient-Occident Foundation to help refugees, migrants, and young Moroccans.
The Fiermontina boutique will sell artisan clothes, accessories, and other products created by Migrants du Monde, a sewing and embroidery workshop based in Rabat that's part of the nonprofit organization Orient-Occident Foundation, founded by Filali to offer support and opportunities for refugees, migrants, and young Moroccans from disadvantaged backgrounds and to spur community development in rural areas.
