There are several types of impact investments, from bonds to venture capital to products and services that improve access to health care, and they can take the form of everything from small businesses in developing countries to green energy projects to job training.
But it's not just big companies that are interested in making a positive impact: "impact investors are typically looking to invest in projects and companies that will take several years to reach their desired outcomes," Bloomberg explains.
"They are often more patient with their investments than traditional investors, who may be more focused on short-term gains."
For example, an investor may provide capital to fund a job training program, and if the program is successful in reducing unemployment, the investor will receive a return on their investment.Selected Grant News Headlines
