The world's richest people are putting their money where their mouth is.

The Economic Times reports India's ultra-rich are putting their cash where their mouth is by investing in causes that have a "positive social and environmental impact," such as girls' education, climate change, and water conservation.

"Though catalytic capital is not very popular in India, families are providing long-term capital and using their might within their circle of influence to promote causes by investments that go beyond impact investing," says LGT Wealth India, a financial services firm owned by one of the world's richest people.

The world's richest peoplethose with annual incomes of more than $1 million per yearare putting their money where their mouth is by investing in tech start-ups in areas such as agriculture, solar energy, and wind energy, as well as in areas such as affordable housing and rural artisans and handicrafts.
