Michigan's Upper Peninsula is getting ready to host its biggest economic development event in years.
The Michigan Economic Developers Association's annual conference, which runs Sunday through Wednesday in Marquette, is said to be the group's biggest in recent years with 180 people expected to attend, the Marquette Daily Press reports.
The theme of this year's event is "Building a Climate Migration Haven," with speakers focusing on ways to attract residents and visitors to the state because of climate change and work-from-home policies.
"To help attract people, Michigan needs a good supply of housing in urban and rural areas, a plethora of recreational activities, talent-building opportunities, and a ripe entrepreneurial environment," the organizers say.
