Some 800 women in Ireland are getting a leg up on their competition thanks to a fund created by Bank of America and the government.
The Women of Ireland Empowerment Fund, a partnership between Bank of America and Ireland's Department of Rural and Community Development, is giving out $3.2 million in grants to five organizations that will help women get an education or find work, reports the Irish Times.
"The deep barriers that persist to equality for women are in the areas of care, education, employment and remuneration, all of which impact negatively on women's economic mobility, compounding disadvantage," says the CEO of Rethink Ireland, one of the organizations getting a grant.
Since its creation in 2012, the fund has helped more than 1,000 women secure jobs, reports the Irish Times.
