Evers Launches $50 Million Non-State Grant Program

Wisconsin is putting its money where its mouth is.

Gov.

Tony Evers has announced the launch of a new Non-State Grant Program that will provide up to $50 million in grants to support community development and infrastructure projects in communities across the state, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

"The Non-State Grant Program will serve as a catalyst for community development, empowering local organizations to undertake construction projects that have a profound public purpose," Evers says in a press release.

He announced last week that $36.6 million is available through the American Rescue Plan Act for projects in Janesville, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Door County.

Republican members of the Wisconsin State Legislature had previously rejected five projects through the state's capital budget process.

Non-state organizations are encouraged to submit proposals that align with the program's mission but also demonstrate innovative solutions to pressing community challenges.

The application period for the program is now open and will close on Jan.
