Employees of Northern Trust, one of the largest financial institutions in the world, are putting their money where their mouth is.
The bank has donated more than $19 million to causes in the last decade, including shelter for children in India, laptops for low-income students in London, and access to mental and physical health services in Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The company's philanthropic strategy focuses on four key areas: educational excellence, food security, accessible healthcare, and affordable housing.
"We believe creating long-term sustainable change in communities requires direct investment of capital using investments that prioritize social impacts rather than the maximization of financial return," the bank says in its 2022 Sustainability Report.
