For the second year in a row, the Global Cleantech 100 list has named the 100 most promising cleantech companies in the world, and this year's list includes a woman for the first time.
Juliet Hull, co-founder and CEO of Sleaktek, is among the women on the list, Quartz reports.
"We see time and time again founding start-ups based on personal experience with the technology they've developed," she says.
"But passion and drive are not enough to deliver solutions when no one with power knows a technology exists."
Here are the 10 women on the list: GeneNeer: A company based in Israel that uses gene-editing techniques to boost crop yields by up to 50%.
It's also the first company to use gene-editing technology to genetically modify crops to prevent pest and disease.
Kumulus Woman Water: A company based in the US that converts waste into drinking water using solar power.
Relentless Energies: A company based in the US that provides consulting and financing to start-ups.
