Women around the world are giving more and more of their money to charity, and in India, they're doing so in a big way.
The Times of India reports that the country's 100 richest women donated a total of $5.3 billion in the 12 months ending in March.
That's more than any other country on the list and more than double the $2 billion donated by the country's richest men in the same period, according to Forbes.
The paper notes that women have donated more than twice as much as men in the past 10 years, but they're still only a fraction of the world's richest, with a combined wealth of $5 trillion.
India's 100 richest women, however, are doing more than just giving money: They're also giving their time.
Savitribai Phule, one of the country's richest women, gave away $12 million in the 12 months ending in March, more than any other woman on the list.
"Women are giving more and more of their money," Phule tells the Times.
"It's not because they are richer, it's because they are giving more and more of their time."
