"Access to financial advice and banking services is essential for any community to thrive and our Community Center Branches are at the center of lifting up communities by creating opportunities for growth," says JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon in a statement announcing the company's second Community Center branch in New York City.
Located in the Grand Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx, the 5,400-square-foot branch offers free financial health workshops, pop-up shops for small business clients, and WiFi for community groups, per a press release.
Chase has opened 16 additional Community Centers across the country, 14 of which were part of the company's Racial Equity Commitment to reach underserved communities.
Chase plans to open a Brooklyn branch by the end of the year.
"Far too often, customers are intimidated when they visit a bank," says Diedra Porche, head of Chase Community and Business Development.
"They don't know where to start or who to approach when they have a question.
We want to change that."
