Baltimore's Mitchell family is putting its money where its mouth is, awarding a $50,000 grant to Excellence & Ambition, a nonprofit that helps young people ages 14 to 21 launch and grow their own businesses, the Baltimore Sun reports.
"Not only does this organization's work embody Mr. Mitchell's passion for empowering and preparing our youth, our partnership with Excellence & Ambition INC will help YMiT meet several measurable goals in measurable areas such as business development, workforce, and career development," says Yolanda Jiggetts, CEO of Park Heights Renaissance, the nonprofit that received the grant.
The George E.
Mitchell Fellowship Grant was named for the late social entrepreneur and community activist.
"We have learned that in order to make a real impact on an organization, there needs to be significant investment both capital investment and support services," says Jiggetts.
"Their focuses include awareness about health and wellness in their community, creating a pipeline for employment with job fairs, college workshops, supporting each others' dreams, and more."
