Babangida Zama is a 23-year-old college student in Kano, Nigeria.
He's also the leader of the group that won the Rising Awareness Action pitch competition on Saturday, receiving a $100,000 grant to launch advocacy programs in their communities, reportslacebase.com.
Zama's group will use the money to advocate for inclusive political activities for people with hearing impairments.
Second-place winner Abdullahi Mustapha Rabi'u says his group will use the grant to advocate for the recall of politicians who haven't performed well in the polls.
The competition was organized by Blue Sapphire Hub, a leading non-governmental organization in northern Nigeria.

Social Enterprise Is Re-Housing Unwanted Furniture
Weston Mill-based social enterprise Surplus Rescue CIC (Community Interest Company) recycles and finds homes for unwanted furniture. To date, it has received “extensive amounts” of quality second-hand furniture including desks, pedestals, cupboards and office chairs from a former local authority office equipment – and wants to find them a good home.
