"There are a number of barriers to growing national service, and the help of partners like the US Bank Foundation is absolutely critical to helping us break those barriers," Eric Kotin, director of strategic initiatives at nonprofit Lead for America, says in a press release.
That's why the bank is donating $1 million to the American Connection Corps, a program that aims to "transform the lives of corps members and make a lasting impact in communities," Executive Director Taylor Stuckert says.
The bank's gift "represents a game-changing commitment to advancing prosperity in digitally disconnected communities, more of which can now be served by the ACC program," Stuckert adds.
The American Connection Corps is a year-long service program designed to recruit, place, and train civic-minded individuals who are dedicated to spending a year of service in the communities they call home.
Members span generations and work shoulder-to-shoulder with their host sites and fellow citizens, providing capacity and resources to meet local needs.
"By supporting organizations like Lead for America, we're helping more people gain access to the economic possibilities that come from being part of a digitally connected community," Pam Maxwell, community affairs manager at US Bank, says in the press release.
