Credit.Org Celebrates 50 Years of Empowering Financial Well-Being

When Cyndi Williams took over as CEO of Credit.org in 2014, she promised the nonprofit would "continue to innovate to meet the evolving needs of clients and expand its reach to underserved communities."

That's exactly what it has done, with more than 5.2 million clients since its founding in 1974, per a press release.

Today, Credit.org is "a leader in financial counseling and education," offering "essential services such as credit and housing counseling, debt management, and financial education," per the release.

It's also a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, and has won more than a dozen national awards for its financial literacy and education work, per the press release.

"We are proud of the positive impact we've had on so many lives and are committed to continuing our mission for many years to come," says Todd Emerson, who has served as Credit.org's president and CEO since its founding, per the press release.

To mark its 50th anniversary, Credit.org has created an innovations and technology department to "implement new technologies to empower individuals to make informed financial decisions and achieve their financial goals," the press release notes.
