A Florida nonprofit theater is getting $1 million from the state to build workforce housing for artists, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.
Florida Studio Theatre will use the money to build an eight-story building that will include housing for artists and arts employees, as well as parking.
The theater has been trying to get state lawmakers to support the project for years.
"This theater has always offered top-tier performances at affordable ticket prices, and they continue in that vein to build affordable housing for artists," said state Rep.
McFarland.
