The federal government has awarded the North Salt Lake with a grant worth $1,855,512; however, they need to match the grant with $618,504. According to Mayor Len Arave, the city will have to apply for other grants, hold fundraisers, and use some park funds to match the grant money.
The grant money will be used to purchase and demolish 11 homes, shore up the land, and turn the site into an open-spaced park.
