San Diego Foundation Awards $50,000 Grants to East, South Counties for Economic Development

The San Diego Foundation awards two planning grants to the East County and South County economic development councils.

The grants are aimed to "turn Gillespie into a hub for advanced precision manufacturing and research-and-development in unmanned flight systems" and making it an "aerotropolis", according to council officials. John Kasarda at the University of North Carolina endorsed the concept.
