The TEGNA Foundation, the charitable foundation sponsored by TEGNA Inc., is doing its part to alleviate poverty in the Minneapolis-St.
Paul area.
The broadcasting company's local affiliate, KARE 11, has awarded seven community grants totaling $32,980 to nonprofit organizations focused on issues such as homelessness, food insecurity, education, programs for at-risk youth, and more, per a press release.
Among the recipients: Assistance League of Minneapolis-St.
Paul.
Paul: The grant will help fund educational programs for the 2022-2023 school year by providing basic necessities like clothes, food, school supplies, books, and more.
Good in the Hood: Funds will be used for the Shoe Away Hunger program to provide footwear to those in need.
SoleCare for Souls: It will also be used for SoleCare for Souls, which free medical foot care to more than 1,400 unsheltered and hurting people each year.
The Lift Garage: Car repairs are a common trigger for cascading financial difficulties that often lead to eviction and homelessness.
