"We are immensely grateful for their support, and we congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition."
That's what Vicki Johnson, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Texas, had to say about the home-building company after it was named the winner of the National Philanthropy Day Corporate Philanthropy Award in the Mid-Sized Corporation category, presented by the Greater Houston Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
The award "highlights LGI Homes' outstanding commitment to philanthropy and their invaluable partnership with Habitat for Humanity Montgomery County," Habitat said in a statement, noting that the company has been an "instrumental partner" with the nonprofit since 2015, providing " affordable housing and repairs for families in need but also created a ripple effect, fostering community development and well-being."
In a press release, the organization noted that LGI Homes' annual Service Impact Day, when employees donate their time to volunteer in their respective communities, " showcases LGI Homes' commitment to fostering a culture of giving back and emphasizes the importance of community involvement."
Newsweek notes that LGI Homes is a pioneer in the homebuilding industry, having closed more than 64,000 homes since its founding in 2003.
