The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina has awarded more than $1.4 million in grants to dozens of nonprofits in the region, with a focus on early childhood development, food and farming, and human services, reports the Asheville Citizen-Times.
More than half of the grants went to 73 human services nonprofits in the 18-county service area, with $526,932 coming from CFWNC fund holders and donors, per a press release.
The grants "span our region and support children and families, affordable housing, healthcare needs, mental health, food distribution, and so much more," says CFWNC President Elizabeth Brazas.
