"In Massachusetts, we are building an equitable economy that benefits everyone."
So says the state's secretary of economic development in announcing more than $15 million in grants to 67 organizations across the state through the Community Empowerment and Reinvestment Program, a competitive grant program that offers flexible operating grants to local collaborations for programming and projects that develop, strengthen, and invest in community economic priorities.
Per the Gazette of Boston, nearly half of the organizations funded have formerly incarcerated leadership or leadership that has been impacted by the criminal justice system.
The program, created in 2020, is reshaping our communities by providing resources for programs that strengthen our communities through job training, small business support, housing stability, and more.
"We congratulate the awardees on this hard-earned achievement and thank the Legislature for their partnership to make this funding available," says Gov.
Maura Healey.
