If you live in an urban area, you may soon find yourself moving around a lot more.
That's because researchers in the Netherlands are trying to figure out how to make cities less reliant on fossil fuels, Fast Company reports.
"The technology is there, but now we need the revenue model," says researcher Daan Schraven.
"Is the large housing district on the outskirts of the city no longer needed after 20 years? Then the houses are moved to another place.
Also, roads are easily rolled up and out again....
We easily transform the properties into student or elderly homes."
That's the idea behind a new program from the Dutch Climate Research Initiative, Fast Company reports.
"The underlying theme will be the same in all programs: the activities bring a climate-neutral, climate-resilient, and climate-just society closer," says a KIN rep.
The idea is to make cities less reliant on fossil fuels and more resilient to the effects of climate change, such as droughts and rising sea levels.
