The town of Brewster, Mass., is getting $6.7 million from the state to build 45 new affordable housing units.
The Cape Cod Times reports on the grant from the state's Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, part of $227 million in grants, tax credits, and subsidies the state has given out to create 1,874 rental units across Massachusetts.
The Spring Rock Village development will include 45 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units for moderate- to low-income residents.
"We've had a great month here in Brewster, with the Housing Hero award and Housing Choice designation and then funding in the first round," says Town Administrator Michael Kalinick.
"All told, the state's Affordable Housing Grant Awards program gave out $227 million in grants, tax credits, and subsidies to create 1,874 rental units across Massachusetts."
