An affordable housing complex in Smithfield, Va., is getting a facelift thanks to federal and state subsidies, the Virginian-Pilot reports.
The Green Street Housing complex, which includes 10 two-story apartment buildings, has 80 apartments for low- and moderate-income tenants.
"It's going to look and feel like a new property when we're done," says a developer.
Among other things, the buildings will be renovated to National Green Building Standard certification.
