Minnesota developer Chris Sanchez says he's been "building stuff here, workforce housing and upscale housing, for a little while for Winona."
That will soon change with the creation of a 14-unit apartment building on the former Polachek Electric site, reports the Winona Daily News.
The city says it's in need of such housing, and Sanchez says it's something he's been working on for a while.
He plans to use a $298,000 state housing grant and a deferred, forgivable loan from the state to build the apartments, which will be affordable to people earning between $44,000 and $52,000, less than 80% of the area's median income.
