The Food and Nutrition Services Employment and Training Program, a pilot program that is ajoint effort of the county Department of Social Services (DSS), Sandhills Community College (SCC), NC Works Career Center and Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act, works to provide employment training to food stamp recipients since last October.
Food and Nutrition Services Employment and Training Program recently showcased a presentation heard by county commissioners.
The presentation included data and statistics of those who are enrolled in the program, enrolled in curriculum and continuing education classes at Sandhills, took part in job search activities, enrolled in pre-employment training and signed up for a college or career readiness classes.
Maria Campbell, educational navigator at SCC, also shared several success stories with the commissioners.
Recently, the pilot program has chosen Moore County to find new jobs and a better life for food stamp recipients.
